Chevrolet is preparing its all-new Silverado model and its heavy-duty lineup. That includes both 2500 HD and 3500 HD models. The upcoming model will get plenty of updates. For the start, we had an opportunity to see new teaser images. From the same photos, we can confirm the latest speculations about the new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD. This heavy-duty pickup lineup will get dimensional changes and bolder design is also visible at first glance.
Interior is clearly based on the light-duty Silverado 1500 model. There is no doubt, the cabin will be very upscale and modern. On the other hand, things under the hood should stay intact. That means we can expect the same pair of V8 engines. However, Chevy promised a better tow rating this time.
2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Redesign
Design of the all-new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD will get some serious updates. For the start, new heavy-duty pickup will look more aggressive. Some features are taken from the Silverado 1500 model. However, Silverado HD is not that subtle. After Chevy released the latest teaser images some things are much clearer. The new model will be dimensionally larger. However, don’t expect any significant change in this department. Company’s design language is easy to spot.
Additional chrome trims will improve the attractiveness of this pickup. Bowtie badge is not visible anymore. Manufacturer opted for “Chevrolet” letters on the grille. The same styling cue can be found on the new F-150 Raptor and numerous Ram’s models. Silverado HD comes with angular LED headlights and a massive hood scoop. Surely, it is one of the best-looking pickup trucks in its segment.
As we already mentioned, the forthcoming 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD will offer an interior based on the Silverado 1500 model. The heavy-duty model will borrow plenty of quality stuff from its sibling. That includes the same center stack and the dashboard. Again, Ford and Ram did a similar thing with their heavy-duty models.
A multi-function steering wheel is upgraded and it sports more buttons. A 7-inch touchscreen remains a standard choice. The infotainment system is up to date while the interior layout will largely remain. Because of the latest dimensional changes, new Silverado HD will offer slightly more legroom. Cloth upholstery is offered as standard but you can opt for the optional leather. We still don’t know what types of updates will Chevrolet deliver for 2020.
2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Powertrain Specs and Fuel Consumption
Everyone is still hoping for the new engine under the hood of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD. However, as things stand now, that won’t happen. Chevy is likely to keep the current engine lineup. That includes two V8 powertrains. A 6.0-liter V8 is the standard choice. This gasoline unit is reliable and proven over the years.
The second V8 is a 6.6-liter diesel and it will be optional. According to Chevrolet, a diesel engine will now offer even better-towing capacity. The hybrid drivetrain is another speculation. For now, this is just a rumor. If that happens, reports are predicting more power and around 40 mpg combined.
Expected Price and Release Date
Pricing details are not confirmed yet. However, many reports are suggesting the price to start at $35,000. Brand-new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD will arrive this fall and it will hit the dealerships at the same time as GMC Sierra HD.
