After the latest spy shots of the 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500HD, some things are clearer. This heavy-duty pickup truck was spotted with a huge trailer in the back. Even under the heavy camo, some exterior upgrades are clearly visible. Even better, first interior details are available as well.
According to those photos, the interior will be brand-new and based on the interior of the Silverado 1500. We can expect some changes under the hood as well. Chevrolet says that this will be the best 3500HD model so far. However, engine details are mostly a mystery at the moment.
2020 Chevy Silverado 3500HD Looks Unique and Strong
The all-new 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500HD will be based on the lighter Silverado 1500 model. It is one of the most attractive designs in the heavy-duty segment, no doubt about it. After the latest spy photos, we can see further exterior upgrades. Front fascia will look unique.
The grille is redesigned and the bowtie logo is not available anymore. Generally, the front part looks both unique and aggressive. On top of that, Chevrolet’s name runs across the lettering. Headlights are sculpted and are sitting higher than on the current model. Fog lights are placed below the grille and the scoop on the hood is the latest novelty. At the back, taillights are also available with LED technology and side profile sports more aggressive lines.
Interior Will Represent A Huge Improvements
The same spy shots are showing us the interior for the first time. Good news is that the cabin will be brand-new. This time, the interior is very similar to the Silverado 1500 model. This pickup truck is offering one of the best interior designs in the light-duty segment. Another good reason for such a significant change is the fact that the interior is unchanged since 2014. Some changes are significant. But in general, cabin layout and most of the design remains.
Center touchscreen is placed between the vents and gauge cluster is available with six-dial function. Also, speedometer and tachometer are new. The forthcoming 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500HD pickup truck is using the same column gear selector, just like its predecessor. An 8-inch touchscreen is new and it will represent a huge improvement. Some plastic materials are still looking cheap which we find unnecessary. Overall, the interior is now more practical, more modern and comfort is better.
Engine department is still a mystery for everyone. Chevrolet said the all-new 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500HD will be the best one yet. Not only in terms of design but also in terms of performance. The most likely outcome is the all-new engine. However, the new Silverado HD will surely offer two existing powertrains. A 6.0-liter V8 gasoline engine that will remain standard.
An optional 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 will be optional. Diesel variant will generate 450 horsepower and up to 910 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the standard gasoline engine produces 401 HP and 465 lb-ft of torque. Gasoline engine comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The diesel variant is available with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet also says the tow rating on the 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500HD will be significantly better now.
Price and Production
The forthcoming 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500HD comes with a slightly higher price. The new model will cost slightly over $30,000.
