The brand-new 2021 Chevrolet Montana pickup truck is on its way. The first generation was produced between 2003 and 2010. Second-gen Montana arrived in 2011 and in Mexico, this pickup is known as Chevrolet Tornado. The return of the Montana model means that some of the things will be taken from the Tornado variant.
That includes a two-door version, but new reports are also suggesting a four-door model as well. We don’t know that much about Montana pickup, but the latest renderings helped a lot. The powertrain is almost official, and it will be a GM’s small 1.4-liter turbo unit. The sales will start next year, and Montana will arrive in South and Central America.
2021 Chevrolet Montana Comes With Recognizable Design
As we said, new 2021 Chevrolet Montana should arrive with a two-door configuration. However, some reliable sources are also suggesting a four-door variant. It is important to say that the new Montana won’t share anything with its predecessor.
The front end comes with a recognizable design. The same look is present on Chevrolet Blazer and Trailblazer models. The grille is divided into two sections. The upper part looks thinner, while the lower section looks broader.
The headlights are thin as well and are also horizontally oriented. The hood line looks very modern, and the bumper is stylish. The two-tone wheels are a cue that you can find on the 2021 Trailblazer model. The rear end sports all-new taillights and it looks modern. Montana will be a unibody pickup that rides on GEM architecture. The same platform underpins models such as Chevrolet Onix and Chevrolet Tracker.
Unfortunately, there is no word about the interior design of the 2021 Chevrolet Montana. From what we know, next-gen Montana will be larger than its predecessor. That means the customers should expect a generous interior room. Moreover, that includes both headroom and legroom.
If Chevrolet really opts for both two-door and four-door configurations, the customers should also expect different cab setups. That will have a great impact on the seating capacity and interior room. However, we can’t say anything about interior design and its standard and optional features.
2021 Chevrolet Montana Drivetrain Specs
At least we are convinced that the GM’s 1.4-liter engine will power new 2021 Chevrolet Montana. It is a turbocharged gasoline engine that also powers the Chevy Cruze model. The powertrain is capable of producing 153 horsepower. On top of that, this engine can generate 177 lb-ft of torque. We are hoping to see a six-speed automatic transmission.
However, the reality says that the Montana pickup will use a six-speed manual as a standard gearbox. We are still waiting for Chevrolet to release exact engine specs so we can calculate towing capacity. Lastly, some rumors are writing about Sport model that will arrive with different output, and it will provide more power.
Price and Release Date
The next-gen 2021 Chevrolet Montana will cost around $20,000 or even below that. This unibody pickup truck will rival Ford’s Focus-based pickup truck, and it will be produced in Brazil.
Moreover, new Montana will surely reach the markets in South and Central America. On the other hand, its arrival in the U.S. is very unlikely at this moment.
