Besides the Fullback, Fiat offers another interesting pickup truck. The 2020 Fiat Toro will get a small number of upgrades and it won’t depart from the current 2019 model. Toro pickup will expand its sales and it will be available on more markets than before. For now, Toro is available in South America. Colombian version is available under the name “Ram 1000”.
The four-door pickup offers a room for five passengers and it is an affordable model. This model is based on the Jeep’s Renegade and Compass SUVs. Two powertrain options and upscale cabin are more than enough to make you think twice about buying this model.
2020 Fiat Toro Exterior Redesign
For the start, Toro in South America and global Toro will look slightly different. This pickup already looks upscale and modern. The Italian manufacturer will deliver a couple of exterior upgrades. The 2020 Fiat Toro will look more stylish than its predecessor. The front fascia now sports redesigned grille and bolder bumpers. LED headlights are optional and taillights in the back are all-new. Even the aerodynamics are slightly better.
The side hosts a cleaner design while some lines on the hood still look sharp. New optional wheels are speculated. Interestingly, the 2020 Toro rides on the same platform as Jeeps’ Compass and Renegade SUVs. Upper trims will deliver more chrome accents and a premium appearance. New exterior colors will be available as well.
Interior Changes and Updates
Fiat will deliver some stylish updates from the inside too. Of course, the base model is far from luxurious, but it looks and feels upscale. For the start, the 2020 Fiat Toro will get a slightly different interior layout. Storage bins are enlarged and more safety equipment will be offered as standard. Thanks to numerous trim levels, this pickup offers some premium amenities.
However, most of the premium features are optional, even on the upper trims. The infotainment system is up to date and it now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Traction control and electronic stability control will additionally improve its off-road capabilities. If you want leather seats and a premium sound system, range-topping trim levels are the answer you’re looking for.
We are still waiting for the official confirmation about the drivetrain options. Different markets will get different types of engines. The 2020 Fiat Toro will surely get both gasoline and diesel units. Of course, the European variant will have to deliver engines with lower CO2 emissions. A 1.8-liter four-cylinder is, for now, the most likely candidate.
This gasoline engine will be standard and it will deliver 140 HP. Optional 2.0-liter MultiJet engine will be in the offer too. This turbodiesel will produce 170 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. Toro rides on the same platform that underpins Jeep’s Renegade and Compass models. For that reason, four-wheel-drive is a huge possibility and it will be optional.
2020 Fiat Toro Price and Release Date
Pricing details will be interesting. While nothing is official yet, some experts are convinced that the global Toro will be less affordable than South American Toro. This mid-size pickup will cost around $20,000 in the United States.
The same price should be expected in Europe. The 2020 Fiat Toro will hit the markets this fall. The range-topping trim level will surely cost over $30,000.
