Fiat’s new pickup truck, the 2021 Fiat Fullback is about to arrive. Fullback is very similar to the Mitsubishi Triton model. Whatsoever, Fullback is the product of the Fiat-Mitsubishi alliance. Unfortunately, we only had an opportunity to see this model at the international presentation in Italy.
Moreover, Fullback could face a discount before it actually arrives. Many experts weren’t surprised with all. Whatsoever, Fullback really looks out-of-date and a few steps behind its rivals. However, Fiat plans to deliver Fullback in all countries where Mitsubishi don’t. Moreover, Fullback could gain significant changes and it will be refreshed for 2021. It could be the last try to make Fullback competitive and popular among the customers.
2021 Fiat Fullback Features Unique Design
The upcoming 2021 Fiat Fullback will get significant revamp. This is the last try from Italian automaker to make things work. As we already wrote, Fullback is far from its main competitors in many terms, including the design. Now, thanks to the Fiat-Mitsubishi alliance, Fullback will look closer to the L200 pickup truck. On the other hand, some parts of the exterior, mostly features, are very unique. This pickup will also introduce some new stuff.
That includes a new platform that underpins the Nissan Navara model. The 2021 Fullback will once again arrive as a four-door pickup, this time, with the large cargo area. The front fascia will gain sharper details and rear will get new taillights. Thanks to the Navara’s new platform, Fullback will get larger proportions, but not drastically larger.
New Infotainment System
Fiat needs to do better when it comes to interior design. The previous cabin looked so aging and out of date. Now, the 2021 Fiat Fullback will also get an all-new interior. Everything from the inside will look stylish and the interior room will be additionally improved. Larger displays are in the offer, a 7-inch unit is available as standard equipment.
The new infotainment system, latest phone integrations, and safety aids will be arranged through the trim levels. Logically, higher trim levels will get more premium stuff. However, the base model will surely introduce new cloth upholstery and more high-quality materials. Extended Cab Fullback will surely arrive and there will be room for four passengers. On top of that, Double Cab will offer a room for five.
2021 Fiat Fullback Engine
It won’t be a surprise if Fiat offers a new engine option. To this moment, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder is still present. This engine is also available in the current Mitsubishi L200 model. It delivers 180 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque.
However, a new V6 engine is speculated as to the possible optional engine. This unit will bring more power and a smoother ride. On top of that, it perfectly fits into a new platform. However, Navara’s new architecture strongly suggest at least one borrowed engine from Nissan’s pickup. Thanks to that, a 2.5-liter or 3.0-liter engines are a possibility. Both units are offering over 300 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are enough to put Fullback back into place.
Price and Release Date
The price of the new 2021 Fiat Fullback will remain or it will start even lower. The goal is to keep this pickup affordable. For that reason, new Fullback will start slightly below $30,000.
Interestingly, Fiat plans to offer Fullback at the European, Asian and African markets. However, this pickup has no chances in North America. The Italian manufacturer will release its refreshed pickup later next year.
