This fall the upcoming 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty will bring plenty of excitement. The famous heavy-duty lineup of pickup trucks will complete a famous three-year transition. In 2017, Super Duty came with new bodywork and now the rest of the body will be completed. That includes both exterior and interior design.
Also, we can expect further improvements under the hood. However, the Super Duty lineup will offer the same three powertrain choices. Most of the customers are opting for a diesel engine, that will be additionally improved. Whatsoever, there will be two gasoline options as well. The 2020 F-Series will offer better payload, tow rating more power, and torque.
2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty Exterior Upgrades
In order to complete the three-year cycle, the Blue Oval will introduce further exterior upgrades. The most significant upgrade will happen up front with the brand-new grille. However, not all the F-Series Super Duty models will get the same grille. Grille is more sculpted and open than before.
However, Chassis Cab gets with thin horizontal bars. Crew Cab version comes with a sportier grille and F-350 model offers cleaner grille design. Ford logo will sit in the middle of the grille. After the latest spy shots, we can’t say the exterior will suffer significant changes. However, some refreshments will surely happen. More importantly, shape and vehicle’s dimensions will remain. The 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty comes with reshaped taillights and the bed that is similar to the F-150 model.
The interior of the current model looks great. For that reason, Blue Oval will look to modernize the cabin with new features and systems. Existing systems will get updates but there will be some new amenities as well. For the start, the 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty comes with new safety aids. All trims from XLT will get pedestrian detection, auto emergency braking, and lane-keeping alert.
Due to trailer coverage, blind spot monitoring will be in the offer as an option. Besides that, other driver-assistance features are adaptive cruise control and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Ford Pass Connect will be standard and it comes with the 4G LTE Wi-Fi. Numerous USB ports and Bluetooth are standard again.
Interestingly, over 50 percent of Super Duty buyers are opting for the diesel engine. The existing 6.7-liter turbodiesel Power Stroke engine is available once again. However, this time, diesel powertrain will get some improvements. Current variant offers 450 horses and 935 lb-ft of torque. Also, the payload is rated at 7,640 pounds while the tow rating is 35,000 pounds.
The 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty will look to overwhelm those figures. Also, the goal is to beat new Ram’s 3500 pickup truck. A 6.8-liter SOHC V10 gasoline engine is available once again. However, some reports are suggesting a 7.3-liter V8 to replace this Triton engine. A 6.2-liter V8 that produces 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque will surely remain. All three powertrain choices will be mated to a new 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission.
