It seems like the mid-size pickup truck segment is growing once again. Speaking of which, the 2020 Ford Ranger will be one of the most popular models across the globe once again. Withdrawing Ranger from the U.S. made perfect sense for Ford in 2011. In that time, the segment was packed with the old and aging models.
However, the 2020 Ford Ranger is about to arrive and it will bring plenty of innovations. It comes with versatility and the performances are truly great. New Ranger will deploy a hybrid drivetrain and the Ranger Raptor will be available as well. It will be interesting to see the new Jeep Gladiator that is more than a promising model. However, Ford is stepping up once again with the latest changes.
2020 Ford Ranger Super Crew and Super Cab models
The forthcoming 2020 Ford Ranger will once again use the global-market platform that will be also designed for the U.S. market. The mid-size pickup comes with a somewhat conservative exterior design but Ranger is still one of the most functional models on the globe. The current Ranger is available in three trim levels and it seems there will be no changes in that category.
Two body configurations are available, Super Crew and Super Cab models. Ranger comes with plenty of packages like Sport or Chrome packages. If you want to use new Ranger for the off-roading, then FX2 and FX4 are perfect packages for you. However, if you want real luxury, you’ll have to opt for the Lariat trim.
2020 Ford Ranger Comes With Modern Cabin
The interior of the all-new 2020 Ford Ranger will be very upscale and comfortable. The best part about Ranger is that this model is offering more interior space than most of the mid-size segment. A very modern cabin offers room for five persons and the front bucket seats are optional. B&O premium audio system is optional as well, along with the leather upholstery.
A standard 8.0-inch screen is standard once again and the SYNC3 infotainment system is updated. Moreover, Blue Oval carmaker offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. A console-mounted gear shifter remains which is a good thing because the customers are simply in love with this feature.
2020 Ford Ranger Powertrain
Unfortunately, the 2020 Ford Ranger will offer a single drivetrain choice. While most of the competitors are offering larger V6 engines, Ranger still sticks to the 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine. However, this unit is turbocharged and it delivers great performances. The output is rated at 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
This drivetrain comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive as standard. Now, the 2020 Ranger will most likely arrive with the hybrid drivetrain. This system will combine the same engine with the single electric motor and the battery pack. There is no official information about it yet, but hybrid drivetrain will surely deliver over 300 horses. On top of that, fuel economy will get a huge improvement. Current fuel economy is rated at 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
2020 Ford Ranger Price and Release Date
The upcoming mid-size pickup truck will start at around $25,000. Ranger XLT is priced at $28,000 and range-topping Lariat trim at $32,500. Speculated Ranger Hybrid will cost around $30,000. New 2020 Ford Ranger will arrive in the last quarter of 2019.
