Exterior Facelift

New spy shots of the upcoming 2021 Ford F-250 are available. The same photos are showing us the latest visual upgrades. Some parts are under heavy camouflage, but most of the exterior is visible. For the start, badge will get new shape, similar to the Ram’s badge. It is an interesting choice from the Blue Oval manufacturer.

The front grille will get bolder appearance and taillights are revised. More aluminum materials mean less weight. However, high-strength steel frame is intact for 2021. According to Ford, F-250 will offer better-towing capacity this time. We can also expect new exterior paints.

Ford Promises More Tech

Ford plans to make its pickup trucks tech-dominant. That includes both the F-150 light-duty model and the Super Duty Series. The 2021 Ford F-250 will surely get numerous high-tech upgrades. Whatsoever, this will be the only updates from the inside. The steering wheel, dashboard, instrument cluster, and gear shifter will largely remain.

Furthermore, a complete layout of the cabin is intact. Ford will continue to offer optional two-tone leather seats and new all-weather floor mats. We can also count on better safety rating and possibly a new infotainment display. For the end, the 2021 Ford F-250 will get more standard equipment.

Engine Specs

Surely, the biggest news is the hybrid powertrain. It is a product of the “XL Hybrids”, a Boston-based company. Both F-150 and F-250 will get the same type of hybrid. And while we wait for the official announcement, F-250 Hybrid will provide a 25 percent better fuel economy. The regular 2021 Ford F-250 will keep its engine options.

A gasoline 7.0-liter V8 is still a standard engine choice. It produces 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Gasoline engine replaces the previous 6.2-liter V8 and it comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The optional diesel unit is perfect for hauling and towing. A 6.7-liter V8 turbodiesel delivers 450 horsepower and 935 lb-ft of torque. F-250 equipped with this powertrain will tow around 33,000 pounds.

A new off-road package called Tremor is about to arrive. This package is available on F-150 and F-250 variants. Interestingly, the 2021 Ford F-250 Tremor is available only in a crew cab variant. It adds new tires, beefier appearance, more features, and better-towing capacity.

Ford promises the best-in-class tow rating for Tremor’s 7.3-liter gasoline V8. You can expect plenty of off-road gear such as skid plates, off-road running boards and much more. On top of that, Tremor comes with a different approach angle and 10.8 inches of ground clearance.
