Brand-new 2021 Ford Maverick is happening. It is a brand’s pickup truck that will arrive with compact dimensions. Ford plans to sell new Maverick globally, and it should represent a sub-Ranger alternative. Indeed, Blue Oval lacks small pickup trucks in its rich lineup.
Maverick will go on sale with unibody construction, and it will be based on the Focus Wagon. While this model is not official, Ford will reveal new Maverick at some point next year. Whatsoever, some leaked documents are proving that the Maverick pickup is happening.
2021 Ford Maverick Design Is Very Similar to the Bronco Sport
According to the latest reports, a new 2021 Ford Maverick will borrow styling from the Bronco Sport SUV. That won’t help us at the moment because we don’t know that much about the Bronco Sport model either. Still, a couple of things are more than familiar. For a start, large MAVERICK letterings will sit in the middle of the tailgate. Some rumors wrote about the new Maverick as a “Baby Bronco” model. However, that won’t happen.
On the other hand, Maverick could really arrive with a different name and become a part of the Bronco family. For that reason, this pickup is very similar to the Bronco Sport. Maverick will ride on a unibody construction, and it will arrive with a unique design. It will also offer excellent off-road capabilities and a lot of off-road equipment.
As for the interior, the new 2021 Ford Maverick is a mystery. Some sources are suggesting an Escape-like cabin. If that really happens, then Maverick will offer fantastic interior design with plenty of tech goodies. Moreover, Maverick will feature Escape’s recognizable floating screen. Even the dials are the same, and Ford could arrange controls in the same way as in the Escape crossover.
Still, we are waiting for official confirmation. Maverick will be a compact pickup truck, so we believe the interior room won’t be that generous. Lastly, it would be cool to see Maverick in different cab configurations.
2021 Ford Maverick Engine
The all-new 2021 Ford Maverick will arrive with the same engine lineup as Bronco Sport SUV. That includes two engines, a 1.5-liter, and 2.0-liter EcoBoost. Both outputs are turbocharged, and Maverick will offer an eight-speed automatic transmission.
That is more than enough for a compact pickup truck, in our honest opinion. The first engine can deliver 181 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. Still, if you need more power, optional 2.0-liter can produce up to 250 horsepower. A hybrid variant is a possibility, and it could be the same setup as in the Escape Hybrid crossover. Still, we think that won’t happen in the first year of Maverick’s production.
Price and Release Date
Ford’s newest compact pickup truck will most likely reach the dealerships at some point during 2021. The 2021 Ford Maverick will cost at about $20,000 or slightly above that.
The goal is to offer a perfect and smaller alternative for the mid-size Ford Ranger pickup. And just like the Ranger, Maverick will also be a global model. Interestingly, but the sales will firstly start in South America, before coming to the U.S.
