The famous manufacturer is working on the next-gen 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor model. The Project Redback, as Ford named it, will include work on a new engine for the 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor V8 Special Edition. Moreover, this pickup truck version will most likely arrive with a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 from the Mustang GT model.
Additionally, Ranger Raptor will reach Australia and the United States. And just like the F-150 Raptor, Ranger will get more ground clearance, new exterior features and plenty of modifications. More importantly, this high-performance version will gain new mechanics, besides the powerful V8 Coyote powertrain.
2021 Ford Ranger Raptor V8 Platform
First of all, the new 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor V8 Special Edition will use a new platform. It is the same architecture that underpins the regular Ranger pickup variant. However, Raptor’s underpinnings will suffer a couple of modifications. The goal is to deliver the best-possible off-road capability.
Besides that, you can expect a new long-travel suspension with Fox internal dampers. Thanks to that, the new Raptor will arrive as a slightly wider model. This should result in better stability and the Blue Oval is looking to deliver more ground clearance than ever before.
Ranger is one of the most popular models in the mid-size pickup truck segment. One of the reasons why so many people are buying it is because of its appearance. Now, the 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor V8 Special Edition will look even more handsome. Sporty styling works perfectly in a combination with traditional design and shape of a vehicle. Raptor is a model made for off-roading adventures, so expect plenty of exciting things.
First of all, Blue Oval offers new 17-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires. On top of that, the bodywork has been heavily modified. That means the aerodynamics will be even better. Also expect new skid plates, larger bumpers and small modifications on the headlights and taillights. Lastly, Ranger Raptor will get new departure angles, FORD lettering up front and unique running boards.
2021 Ford Ranger Raptor V8 Under the Hood
A new platform, refreshed design and some other upgrades are very exciting for every customer. However, it is the engine that makes pickup trucks so special. The same is with the 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor V8 Special Edition. New Raptor will borrow a 5.0-liter V8 Coyote from the Mustang GT. In Mustang, this engine is producing up to 455 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. We hope for a current diesel engine to remain a standard option. It is a 3.2-liter five-cylinder turbodiesel and some markets will ride on a proven 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine with 310 hp.
However, this gasoline engine could be re-tuned for 2021 and it will generate 375 horses. Lastly, if you are from Australia, there’s a tuning company called “Tickford.” This engineering company can supercharge the engine and equip it with a better cooling system. The same company can tune your new Ranger Raptor V8 to 709 horsepower and 611 lb-ft of twisting power.
Price and Release Date
The all-new 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor V8 Special Edition will go on sale in the last quarter of 2020 with the starting price of $45,000 or slightly above that. New Raptor will look to rival models such as Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Chevy Silverado ZR2. More importantly, this pickup truck will become available in both Australia and the United States.
