The new 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor is coming with plenty of improvements, and the engine is just one of them. According to the latest reports, Ford is working on a V8 engine that will provide more power.
Moreover, it’s a gasoline unit which strongly suggests we can expect a new Raptor version in the United States too. Besides that, the Blue Oval should introduce numerous exterior and interior upgrades. More power and fresh look will surely raise the price of this mid-size pickup truck. We’ll have to find that out at some point this year when Ranger Raptor actually arrives.
2021 Ford Ranger Raptor Design and Platform
If the reports are correct, the new 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor pickup truck should deploy the same platform as the regular Ranger. On the other hand, the Raptor version will ride on the modified architecture that is more flexible. Thanks to that, underpinnings are more off-road-oriented and Ford will also install new long-travel suspension.
Whatsoever, the latest Fox internal dampers will surely be in the offer. Interestingly, but 2021 Ranger Raptor should be wider than the previous model. Moreover, we can expect more ample ground clearance, and generally, the off-road ability will be significantly improved.
Ford won’t introduce a complete redesign or anything similar. This model comes with a recognizable design, and there are no reasons to change that at the moment. For that reason, the new 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor will retain its usual shape. However, the Blue Oval will try to deliver more sportiness and modernity.
For a start, a new model could gain an all-terrain 17-inch BF Goodrich tires. Raptor variant is made for off-roading, so the manufacturer needs to focus on many things. Better approach angle, new skid plates and larger bumpers are also in the works. Lastly, we could expect new and unique running boards.
2021 Ford Ranger Raptor Engine Specs
Under the hood, the forthcoming 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor is getting a gasoline engine, finally. It is a 5.0-liter V8, also known as Coyote. Developing a new engine will cost the company too much money, so borrowing an output from the Mustang GT is a reasonable outcome. This information is not official yet but reports in Australia are saying the thing is done. With a new V8 gasoline engine, Ranger Raptor will produce 455 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
On the other hand, the current diesel engine will remain available in some markets outside the U.S. Another interesting rumor is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost variant that generates 310 hp. Many experts believe that this engine will be re-tuned and it will deliver up to 380 horses. However, this variant is less likely to happen.
Price and Release Date
Once it arrives, an all-new 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor will cost $45,000. This isn’t official price but the Raptor version won’t cost over $50,000 for sure. Blue Oval manufacturer plans to release this iconic mid-size pickup truck in the second half of 2020. More importantly, Raptor will reach American soil and it will rival Chevy Silverado pickup truck.
