The brand-new 2022 Ford F-150 EV is reportedly in the works. Blue Oval manufacture confirmed a new plant where the all-electric truck will be produced. The F-150 pickup truck is the brand’s best-selling model for years. However, F-150 EV won’t be the first electric pickup to reach the markets. GMC is releasing its Hummer in the first half of 2022.
We are also waiting to see the new Rivian R1T model and, of course, the 2021 Tesla Cybertruck. As for the F-150 EV, this model will arrive in mid-2022. Before that, Ford will introduce a hybrid variant, so the F-150 lineup is almost complete. The truck’s name is still a mystery. Luckily, some other details are already available and official.
2022 Ford F-150 EV First Look
New 2022 Ford F-150 EV has been spied earlier this year. The spy shots are showing the prototype that won’t largely depart from the regular F-150 pickup. The difference is in the plugin on the driver’s side, and it seems like the electric version comes with higher ride height. This is the only logical solution as the F-150 EV will need more space to accommodate the batteries.
It is too early to speak about design, but Ford will hardly surprise us with something completely innovative. We are hoping to see something brand-new, but generally, regular F-150 and electric versions will be almost the same.
Interior Might Be Complete New
The interior is also a mystery, but then again, we will be surprised to see something completely new. The 2022 Ford F-150 EV will surely deliver improvements, but the cabin design and its layout should not change drastically. The Blue Oval automaker will look to maintain dominance in the technology department, so we expect more high-tech features.
That also includes the latest driver-assistance aids, larger displays, and more standard equipment. The new-gen infotainment system will become available before 2022, and Ford will look to reduce the number of buttons. Thanks to that, arriving pickup will offer an SUV-like interior with plenty of modern cues.
2022 Ford F-150 EV Engine Specs
The forthcoming 2022 Ford F-150 EV pickup truck will be the most potent F-150 so far. However, we don’t know the exact specs yet. The competition is strong, with Tesla Cybertruck and its 690 hp and 825 lb-ft of torque.
Moreover, Rivian promised 750 horses and 830 lb-ft of torque. As for the GMC Hummer, this truck should get a 1,000 hp output. Ford F-150 EV will deploy a similar dual-motor setup, so we should expect similar performance figures. Unfortunately, we are waiting to hear from Ford about the driving range, towing capacity, and other important things.
Price and Release Date
While the price of the 2022 Ford F-150 EV is not available, we know that this truck will arrive in mid-2022. That means this pickup truck will arrive after its biggest competitors.
Ford confirmed the brand-new plant is in the plans and another plant that will build electric batteries. Some reliable reports are suggesting the “Everglades” as a potential name for the new Ford F-150 EV. Ford will release closer details at some point next year.
