The 2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid is coming to the dealerships later this year. The F-150 is one of the most popular pickup trucks in the world, like ever. However, competition is tougher than ever so Blue Oval is always considering additional updates. This model will introduce an all-electric variant in the near future.
Until that happens, the PowerBoost Hybrid variant is the right way to go. If you are looking for good fuel efficiency, great performances, and stunning towing capacity, this is the model for you. We now know more details, which includes possible changes, exact hybrid specs, and much more, so check it out.
Blue Oval Promises More MPG
The upcoming 2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid is a potent pickup truck. A 3.5-liter V6 that works with a hybrid system is called the “PowerBoost.” It is an output that combines a V6 twin-turbo engine with a hybrid setup. According to Blue Oval, the goal is to deliver improved fuel efficiency. And while the first reports suggested 24 mpg combined, we can confirm slightly better numbers.
New model will provide 26 mpg combined, which is great for a pickup truck. The F-150 PowerBoost will develop up to 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque, which is a lot. To compare, the current Raptor delivers 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, so do the math.
2022 F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid Towing Capacity
We also said the towing capacity will be improved as well. The 2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid will now provide up to 12,700 pounds of towing capacity. Interestingly, F-150 borrows hybrid technology from the Explorer SUV. The SUV variant can tow 5,000 “only.” Some reports suggested around 13,200 pounds, but towing figures will be slightly over. Don’t look at it as a disappointment because this is still more than good towing ability.
The all-new 2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid is using the brand’s MHT powertrain. It is a modular hybrid technology that comes with a 35-kW electric motor. The motor comes with regenerative braking, and it helps a 1.5-kWh battery pack to recharge. The battery sits underneath the pickup truck, so the interior and cargo room are not compromised. This model comes with the Pro Power Onboard generator. The generator delivers 2.4 kilowatts of exportable power, which is great.
On top of that, a 7.2-kilowatt output is optional. Thanks to that, you can use the new F-150 truck to power your tools and much more. As for the non-hybrid powertrain options, the F-150 model offers a lot of them. You can choose between a 3.3-liter V6, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, 5.0-liter V8 engine, and a 3.5-liter EcoBoost variant.
2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid Price, Release Date
The price of the brand-new 2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid will start at over $40,000. Exact pricing details are not available yet at the moment. However, Blue Oval will firstly reveal more details this year, before launching a new model in the last quarter of 2021. As we said, a hybrid variant is the right choice, especially if the arriving F-150 EV version is too expensive for you.
