The all-new 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 will hit the roads once again in a few months. The fourth-generation Sierra 1500 came in 2019, so the 2020 model will arrive with minor upgrades. That includes new exterior colors and slight changes in the standard and optional equipment.
Whatsoever, new Sierra 1500 could introduce larger panoramic sunroof and power tailgate. On top of that, this light-duty pickup truck will most likely get its first off-road variant. From the inside, current Sierra 1500 also suffered a total redesign so the changes are almost not visible. Under the hood, this model offers three powertrain options.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Changes and Upgrades
The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 comes with minor exterior upgrades. The 2019 model started the fourth-generation and it was completely revamped. Now, GMC will deliver small modernizations and a couple of all-new features. That includes new exterior paints and the power tailgate feature like on the Chevy Silverado.
Optionally, panoramic moonroof is available and is enlarged. Current Sierra lost around 350 pounds thanks to lightweight materials which is a good thing. Moreover, this light-duty pickup truck will ride on the GM T1 platform.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Interior Redesign
The interior also went through serious changes recently. The cabin looks more stylish so new updates are very unlikely. Whatsoever, the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 is more user-friendly and comfier from the inside. Check a couple of optional features and you’ll get yourself a luxurious pickup.
Upper trims are also a good piece of business with the pore wood trims, leather upholstery, and larger touchscreen unit. Some changes in the standard and optional equipment will happen in 2020. For an instance, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and vinyl floors are all standard now. There will be six trim levels available.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Under The Hood
The upcoming 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 comes with three powertrain choices. There will be no changes as those are the same three engines from the current model. The standard unit is a 4.3-liter V6 that cranks out 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque through a 6-speed automatic gearbox. A 5.3-liter V8 is the optional engine that returns 355 horses and 383 lb-ft of twists.
This optional unit is available with 6-speed automatic or 8-speed automatic transmission. Finally, a 2.7-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine is delivering 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. Sierra 1500 Denali will offer a 6.2-liter V8 that generates 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain comes with an exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission. All models are available with the standard rear-wheel-drive and the optional four-wheel-drive setup is optional.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Price and Release Date
The price of the all-new 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 will remain. That means the base model starts at $35,000 and the range-topping model will cost up to $60,000. This light-duty pickup will look to rival established models such as Ram 1500, Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra. There is no official release date, but we can expect this model to arrive in the third quarter of 2019.
