The all-new 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 will arrive with numerous upgrades and changes. However, the number of changes are still not enough to call it a redesign. Recently, Chevy redesigned its Silverado model. Sierra HD is similar to the Silverado HD in every possible category. Silverado’s new face will have a huge impact on the upcoming Sierra model.
We can expect new optional features and additional design changes. There will be three different cab sized and four different trim levels. Sierra 3500 still falls behind Silverado in terms of payload and towing capacity. However, the price is affordable for the segment.
2020 GMC Sierra 3500 Exterior Looks Strong
The upcoming 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 looks quite astonishing. Some parts are very aggressive and some are looking subtle. Most of the cues are taken from the light-duty Sierra 1500 pickup. However, the inspiration for such an upscale design is taken from the Silverado model. New Sierra 3500 will get larger grille and reshaped headlights.
The rear end comes with a new Corner Step system. This technology will be optional. 18-inch wheels are standard once again. There will be four trim levels and range-topping Denali trim is also available. Sierra 3500 Denali will get more chrome accents on the front grille. Dark exterior trims, off-road suspension, MultiPro tailgate and LED headlights are all standard.
The interior of the Sierra 3500 will also borrow plenty of stuff from the Sierra 1500 model. Everything from the inside looks modern. We must admit that the new cabin looks very upscale for the heavy-duty pickup truck segment. New shapes of the vents are looking modern. Some parts are very premium and subtle finished can be found from the inside as well. Interior layout will largely remain and there won’t be so many upgrades.
Whatsoever, all of the updates are minor in the 2020 GMC Sierra 3500. Most of the changes will happen in the technology department. Denali trim comes with a new 15-inch head-up display. Leather seats are standard on the Denali variant. The heated steering wheel is now standard as well. On top of that, Denali trim comes with additional chrome and wood accents. The base model will offer a standard cloth upholstery. However, comfort is great and the crew cab version will offer a room for six.
2020 GMC Sierra 3500 Engine
GMC won’t introduce changes under the bonnet. Three engine options are available once again. The 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 comes with a standard 6.0-liter that produces 300 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, you can opt for the same engine with a higher output. This gasoline engine will produce up to 360 HP and 380 lb-ft of twist.
A 6.6-liter V8 Duramax is the last powertrain choice. Turbodiesel unit generates 445 horses and 910 lb-ft of torque. With diesel variant, Sierra 3500 can tow up to 23,500 pounds. All three V8 engine will deploy a 6-speed automatic transmission.

When it comes to pricing details, GMC is still refusing to release official details. The 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 will cost $38,000 or slightly more. The upcoming heavy-duty model will hit the dealerships later in 2019. Sierra 3500 Denali will also arrive and it will cost over the $60,000.
