General Motors plans to deliver significant interior improvements to its full-size pickup trucks. The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 is the first in line. On top of that, Chevrolet Silverado will also get an improved cabin. To this day, two trucks received so much criticism about their interiors. However, it seems like the GM waited for Ram to introduce the latest cabin improvements.
Besides that, the exterior will also get a facelift. We can expect numerous refreshments in this particular category. Under the bonnet, things will remain. That means there will be three powertrain options. The 2021 Sierra 1500 will hit the markets in the second half of 2020.
The forthcoming 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 won’t get a complete redesign. However, a significant facelift is about to happen. The new model will introduce last mid-cycle refreshments. Most likely, the 2022 Sierra 1500 will be the fifth-generation model. For that reason, GM is finishing this race in style. The pickup truck will get new modern touches such as headlights and wheels.
Grille will be modified, and taillights are reshaped. Dimensions and vehicle’s shape will largely remain. Whatsoever, Sierra 1500 continues to ride on the same GM T1 architecture. General Motors will introduce two new exterior paints, and upper trim levels will look very premium.
2021 Sierra 1500 Interior Overhaul
All-new 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 will get some drastic changes inside the cabin. General Motors will do precisely the same thing to the interior of the 2021 Chevy Silverado. It is a much-needed type of upgrade for both pickups. The question is “why GM waited for so long?” The Ram 1500 is the main reason. This model introduced a new cabin in 2019. For that reason, Sierra 1500 and Silverado will get further upgrades now. Moreover, with this type of update, GM will beat Ram with ease.
For a start, Sierra 1500 will get a revamped center stack. Additionally, a larger infotainment display is in the offer. This should result in better usage of space around the center stack. Expect some significant updates on Denali trim level. GM will introduce subtle finishes and more modern touches. Comfort will be better, and the use of premium materials is better now.
Engine Specs, Diesel and Denali Trim Level
The approaching 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 continues to offer the same three drivetrain options. A 4.3-liter V6 is still present, and it delivers 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. It uses a 6-speed automatic transmission that seems a bit outdated. A 5.3-liter V8 is more recommendable engine, and it is optional. Potent V8 generates 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. You can equip this powertrain with either 6-speed or 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The range-topping Sierra 1500 Denali will use a larger 6.2-liter V8. Denali trim level cranks out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of twist. Finally, a 2.7-liter four-cylinder diesel unit is in the offer. Thanks to a turbocharger, the smaller output is producing 310 horses, and torque is rated at 350 lb-ft. A rear-wheel-drive system is offered as standard, across all trim levels.
2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Price and Release Date
Thanks to the latest interior upgrades, the new 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 will cost more. The price of the base model now starts at $36,000. On the other hand, the range-topping Denali variant costs over $60,000. GM will release its newest pickup truck in the second half of 2020.
