The all-new 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 is ready for new mid-cycle refreshments. This reliable heavy-duty pickup truck won’t get a redesign, but you can count on a couple of improvements in basically every department. For a start, GM will try to replicate some cues taken from the Chevy Silverado model. Moreover, Sierra 3500 will get numerous upgrades inside the cabin.
Besides that, this model will continue with its traditional shape and recognizable interior layout. On top of that, General Motors will provide more equipment and higher safety ratings. Sierra 3500 will once again offer three different cab configurations and up to four trim levels. In terms of performances, nothing significant will change.
2021 GMC Sierra 3500 Design Refreshments
The brand-new 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 will mostly remain when it comes to design. However, the exterior could gain a couple of refreshments. Most importantly, its rugged appearance will remain. This heavy-duty truck looks both aggressive and stylish at the same time. Some styling cues are SUV-like, and the era when a pickup truck was just a workhorse is long gone now. This time, Sierra 3500 will try to replicate the design of the new Silverado 1500.
That includes similar bodywork and more similar look of the front fascia. The front grille now looks slightly larger, and the headlights will be reshaped. The rear part will offer a new Corner Step feature that should be optional on the base Sierra model. 18-inch wheels will remain standard in 2021. If you want more luxury, Sierra 3500 Denali is a thing of luxury that comes with more chrome trims, more premium wheels and new systems such as MultiPro tailgate.
The interior will get more significant upgrades this time. New 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 will look more modern and upscale as a result. High level of comfort will remain, and we don’t expect new upholstery. However, a couple of design changes could happen. For a start, air vents are finished in different shape, and the cabin will host slightly more chrome materials around the dashboard. Interior is convenient and we expect from 2021 Sierra 3500 to keep this level of practicality.
Next model will get more equipment. Some of the new features will be standard on the base trim level. However, most of the new driver-assistance aids will be optional. Denali trim offers an astonishing 15-inch head-up display, leather upholstery and heated steering wheel, all as standard. As we said, Sierra is available in three cab configurations, and crew cab setup provides a room for six people.
2021 GMC Sierra 3500 Engine Specs
Unfortunately, the approaching 2021 Sierra 3500 won’t introduce a new engine option. Moreover, GM won’t re-tune its engine lineup as Ford did. A 6.0-liter engine remains standard engine choice, and it can produce up to 300 hp and 333 lb-ft of torque. However, the same motor with different output is available, and it is rated at 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. The third option is a well-known 6.6-liter Duramax.
Turbodiesel powertrain cranks out 445 horsepower and an astonishing 910 lb-ft of twisting power. Knowing that diesel version is perfect for heavy-duty jobs as it can tow almost 24,000 pounds. All three options are using the same 6-speed automatic transmission.
Price and Release Date
The price of the upcoming 2021 GMC Sierra won’t change. That means you can get this heavy-duty pickup truck for around $38,000. However, the range-topping Denali variant costs over $60,000, and it delivers a high level of luxury. General Motors will release complete Sierra’s lineup in the last quarter of 2020.
