GMC is about to release its new Sierra model. 2020 Sierra will introduce minor updates only. However, the 2021 GMC Sierra will arrive with a redesign. According to numerous reports, the 2021 Sierra will be the new-generation model. A fifth-gen Sierra will also gain new interior and we can expect better comfort and numerous updates in terms of tech.
However, under the bonnet, GMC plans to keep a current engine lineup. Sierra will get a couple of new standard and optional features. As a result, the performances will remain but we will see a better-looking model with more luxury to offer.
2021 GMC Sierra Changes and Updates
The all-new 2021 GMC Sierra will be a fifth-gen model. For that reason, this pickup will get a complete redesign. However, dimensions won’t be changed, just like the shape of the vehicle. On the other hand, GMC will introduce new design language, new features, and more attractive styling.
For instance, Sierra will get new power tailgate, like the one on the Chevy Silverado model. Optionally, a new panoramic sunroof is available too. Not only that, but this sunroof is also larger. Sierra will lose some weight thanks to the latest modifications on the GM T1 platform. The front fascia is completely new and GMC will offer new exterior paints as well.
The interior will also get numerous changes. That includes a new interior layout that will provide slightly more interior room. However, a number of seats will stay intact. The 2021 GMC Sierra now offers more user-friendly tech, especially new optional display. On top of that, the infotainment system is updated to its latest version.
Furthermore, Sierra will get improved comfort. Leather seats are optional once again on the base Sierra model. The cabin will also get additional chrome and wood trims. There will be six trim levels and range-topping trim offers real luxury with premium amenities.
2021 GMC Sierra Powertrain
The arriving pickup truck will most likely retain its engine lineup. Despite the new-gen model, the 2021 GMC Sierra continues to offer the same three power options. A 4.3-liter V6 remains standard engine choice. Some fans call it “aging” but GMC doesn’t think so. The standard powertrain delivers 285 HP and 305 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. A 5.3-liter V8 is an optional engine that produces 355 horses and 383 lb-ft of twist.
Unlike standard unit, the optional engine offers an optional 8-speed automatic transmission. As for the diesel, a 2.7-liter four-cylinder turbo is in the offer. Diesel powertrain is good for 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. If you are a fan of higher performances, famous Denali trim got you covered. GMC Sierra Denali offers a powerful 6.2-liter V8 that cranks out 420 HP and 460 lb-ft of torque. Sierra will remain an RWD model.
Price and Release Date
The price of the next-gen 2021 GMC Sierra will now start at $36,500. It is a small price increase which is logical for the new generations. The arriving pickup truck is available in six different trim levels. The range-topping Sierra Denali will cost over $60,000 this time. New Sierra will be released next summer.
