Remember the 1991 GMC Syclone? A 280 hp truck with great acceleration and speed? Well, it is coming back. Sort of. GMC Canyon Syclone will return thanks to the Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE). The upcoming pickup is built in Florida by the same company that revived the 800 HP Yenko model. The SVE plans to build 100 trucks for the start. GMC gave the approval and license to the SVE manufacturer.

New Syclone will become available only in extended cab variant. It comes with a 3.6-liter V6 supercharged engine. Generally, it is a good-looking pickup truck with plenty of sportiness. The interior won’t suffer many changes over the base Canyon model.

GMC Canyon Syclone Exterior Looks Perfect

The exterior of the GMC Canyon Syclone will look amazing. The arriving pickup looks very attractive and modern. Visually, you won’t find much better-looking models. The rear end comes with plenty of muscles and subtle side skirts are looking perfect. The same side skirts are covering the frame so well. The rear bumper is gone and it is replaced with body-color plastic covers. SVE said that this isn’t a work truck, so all of the upgrades are sporty for a reason.

We like the fact the Syclone model largely departs from the original Canyon pickup truck. Unlike 1991, Syclone is available in any color you like as long as it is a GMC’s exterior paint. The pickup will wear matte black finishes. 20-inch five-spoke wheels are wrapped in the expensive Michelin PS2S tires.

Interior Design and Features

As for the interior, not all the details are available. However, we already saw black leather seats with red Syclone logos. Logos could be found all over the cabin, on the headrest, floor mats and steering wheel. Basically, everything from the inside is black.

The forthcoming GMC Canyon Syclone won’t largely depart from the base Canyon. Except for numerous badges and all-black interior design, SVE delivers almost the same cabin as GMC. The rest of the interior will remain practical and modern. Seats are wider and there is plenty of legroom for all passengers.

GMC Canyon Syclone Engine

The all-new GMC Canyon Syclone offers a 3.6-liter V6 powertrain. This engine comes with a supercharger. Both rear and all-wheel-drive systems are in the offer. The engine is producing 455 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque. SVE adds new brake package, sporty suspension, and rear anti-roll bar. The new model is two inches lower up front and five inches lower in the rear.

A dual cat-back exhaust system is available as well. Basically, SVE’s package includes air-to-water intercooler in a combination with the air-to-air intercooler. Thanks to that, SVE gained 147 horses boost and 150 lb-ft of torque improvements.

Acceleration Time

The upcoming Syclone will be very fast. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. 8-speed automatic transmission is available.

Price and Release Date

Unfortunately, Specialty Vehicle Engineering will produce only 100 models. At least for now. New GMC Canyon Syclone will start at $40,000. Have in mind the base Canyon pickup cost around $23,000.

This model is available only in extended cab variant. Release date is not available yet. However, the first quarter of 2020 is the most logical outcome.
