The all-new 2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition is a premium pickup truck. And while most of the competition is deploying a body-on-frame architecture, Ridgeline is using a unibody platform. For that reason, the Ridgeline model feels sportier than most of its rivals. Also, handling is better and generally, driving manners are more SUV-like.
Black Edition is the range-topping trim level that offers nothing but the luxury. Type R variant is still a rumor and before that happens, Ridgeline Black Edition will be the best possible option you can buy. It offers a premium exterior design and the interior is extremely luxurious for a pickup truck. This trim comes with plenty of standard features and amenities. That even includes a standard all-wheel-drive configuration.
2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition Design
The exterior of the upcoming 2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition will look extremely modern and attractive. This trim adds plenty of Black Chrome accents, especially on the front grille and rear bumper. A Crystal Black Pearl exterior color is standard and it looks sporty. Black trims can be found on the door handles, exterior mirrors, and skid plates.
Thanks to such a strong use of black paint, the pickup truck looks aggressive. Furthermore, premium 18-inch alloy wheels are available. The same wheels are standard on the RTL-E trim. However, the Black Edition model offers an all-black version.
There won’t be any difference between the layout of the base model Honda Ridgeline and the layout of the Black Edition model. However, the level of comfort and luxury is totally different. If you want comfort and upscale features, the 2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition got you covered. The interior offers a standard leather upholstery. The leather is literally everywhere. Most importantly, on the steering wheel and the seats.
Black leather and red contrast stitching are creating a premium combination. Probably the best thing about the interior is Honda’s Red Ambient Lighting. With this feature, the interior looks even better. On top of that, red backlighting on the displays is looking perfect. Almost all of the amenities that are optional on the base Ridgeline model are standard on the Black Edition variant.
2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition Powertrain
There will be no surprises under the hood. The 2020 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition comes with a strong 3.5-liter V6 engine. The same unit can be found inside the current model as well. Powerful V6 comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
On top of that, all-wheel-drive setup is standard and the engine offers an Intelligent Variable Torque Management System. This engine is the only option and it produces 280 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Towing capacity is rated at 5,000 pounds and fuel economy is average for Ridgeline’s segment.
Price and Release Date
Ridgeline pickup truck is available in six trim levels. Just to compare, the base model starts at $30,000 and Black Edition at $43,500.
The new Honda Ridgeline Black Edition looks very premium and upscale. Interior is a thing of beauty and the price is perfectly reasonable. This pickup truck will go on sale in the second half of 2020.
