The forthcoming 2020 Honda Ridgeline Type R will be hotter and quicker variant of the famous pickup truck. Honda established its position in the United States and its models are more than competitive in every possible segment, even the pickup truck category. Now, just like other famous automakers, Honda will also deliver a high-performance pickup truck.
The 2020 Honda Ridgeline Type-R will depart from the base model in so many ways. That includes a new engine, suspension, more comfortable interior, and sportier look. Under the hood, we can expect a turbocharged V6 powertrain. The exterior will offer astonishing aerodynamics, more chrome details and plenty of sportiness. Unlike the base model, Type R offers amazing interior with the premium feel from the inside.
2020 Honda Ridgeline Type R Stunning Design
The all-new Honda Ridgeline Type R will look sporty and attractive. While the base model looks hot, Type R variant comes with better aerodynamics. Most of the features will be enlarged. That includes larger vents and openings for better engine cooling. Black-out grille highlights the front end, along with the aggressive bumper.
Whatsoever, both features are similar to the ones on the Civic Type R model. Three-section grille design is present, along with the Honda’s badge in the middle. Hood adds bigger scoops and additional carbon materials. This pickup truck will ride on 19-inch wheels or optional 20-inches. In the back, Ridgeline Type R comes with the in-bed trunk and the two-way tailgate. Of course, the cargo bed is the same as on the base model.
2020 Honda Ridgeline Type R Interior Innovations
When someone is buying a Type R model, the interior is probably the last category to pay attention to. However, the base model looks modern and feels comfortable. The Honda Ridgeline Type R will boost that look and feel a little more. The design is amazing as the pickup now offers more chrome trims and red accents.
Those accents are especially visible on the dash, door panels, seats, and steering wheel. Speaking of the steering wheel, it looks sportier than on the regular model. Gauge cluster comes with a bigger tachometer and Type R version offers new clutch pedal and gearshift. The comfort is on a high level as the leather seats are standard. Even the rear section is comfy and the legroom is ample.
2020 Honda Ridgeline Type R Powertrain
Regular Honda Ridgeline comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that returns 280 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. While this V6 is powerful it isn’t powerful enough for the 2020 Honda Ridgeline Type R. There are two options available for Honda.
One is to develop new powertrain which is too expensive. Second is to borrow an engine from some other model or to make the existing V6 turbocharged. Japanese carmaker opted for the last option and the existing engine will now arrive with a turbocharger. It will produce up to 450 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.
On top of that, Ridgeline Type R will now offer a direct-injection fuel system. The output is now very powerful and improved aerodynamics should now provide even better performances. Just like any other Type R model, this one also comes with a standard all-wheel-drive setup.
2020 Honda Ridgeline Type R Price and Release Date
The base Ridgeline pickup starts at around $30,000. Black Edition models are priced at $43,500, so the new Honda Ridgeline Type R will cost $50,000. The high-performance variant will arrive at the beginning of 2020.
