Powertrain To Produce 450 Horsepower

The most interesting part of every Type R model is its engine. There were a couple of solutions. However, developing a new engine is not an option. For that reason, the 2021 Honda Ridgeline Type R will most likely deploy an existing powertrain. The base model is using a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 280 HP and 262 lb-ft of torque.

The same engine could make the production in Type R variant. However, the same engine could suffer a couple of modifications. Installing a turbocharger will help this powertrain to produce 450 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, the engine will feature a new direct-injection fuel system and the new VTEC system. Thanks to all of these upgrades, Ridgeline Type R will offer great acceleration and top speed. Honda will also offer a standard all-wheel-drive system as standard.
