The upcoming 2021 Hyundai Tucson Pickup Truck is just a rumor for now. It could happen, but most likely, it won’t in the near future. New renderings are available, and the images are showing a nice-looking Tucson-based pickup. The idea is great, but it remains a mystery if Hyundai truly plans to build one such a sleek truck.
The second option is to transform the existing Santa Cruz pickup into a model that is based on Tucson crossover-SUV. The fourth-gen Tucson made its debut a few weeks ago, and the rumors about Tucson Pickup Truck are more frequent. According to various reports, two models will share the same architecture and so much more.
2021 Hyundai Tucson Pickup Truck Exterior
As you can see on the latest renderings, the new 2021 Hyundai Tucson Pickup Truck looks very nice and modern. We can call it a “cross-truck” since its based on the crossover. It is a unibody pickup with modern styling, and it looks almost the same as the crossover variant. However, it comes with a bed, so the rear part is changed drastically. A Dual-cab variant is also a great idea, and it also looks impressive.
As for the exterior features, they are absolutely the same, including the same architecture. Styling cues are slightly different, so the pickup truck looks more rugged and more aggressive. The front part will wear a new grille and new headlights. We’d definitely give this model a chance, even if it arrives as the new Hyundai Santa Cruz variant.
The interior is a complete mystery at the moment. However, the 2021 Hyundai Tucson Pickup Truck should deliver the same design as the crossover version. Moreover, we expect exactly the same features on the inside, including touchscreen options and different interior amenities. The cabin layout will be the same, and even the upholstery won’t be different.
The pickup truck will get a slightly different arrangement of controls and buttons. The center stack will be changed, along with the new gear shifter. Tucson Pickup Truck will probably gain additional driver-assistance systems, but the rest of the interior should remain.
2021 Hyundai Tucson Pickup Truck Engine
Under the hood, our guess is the 2.0-liter engine with 165 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. You don’t need to be smart to predict the same engine lineup as in the crossover model. However, the Hyundai Tucson Pickup Truck will definitely need something more powerful. For that reason, the optional engine could become a 2.5-liter Smartstream four-cylinder unit.
This powertrain option will produce around 190 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, which is more than other Tucson outputs, such as the 2.4-liter variant. The Korean manufacturer will pair a 2.5-liter engine with new 8-speed automatic Shiftronic automatic transmission. A high-performance version is unlikely to happen, along with the hybrid variant.
Price and Release Date
As for the price, the idea is to offer a new 2021 Hyundai Tucson Pickup Truck as an affordable option in the segment. That means the potential price could start at about $25,000. According to rumors, this model will go on sale at some point in 2021. However, we think this is unlikely to happen in the next year or two.
