The latest reports are saying that Kia is working on its new model. The forthcoming Kia Pickup Truck will firstly arrive in Australia. Of course, the ultimate goal is to reach the American markets. However, Kia Pickup Truck will arrive at 2022 or 2023. Furthermore, Hyundai will offer its Santa Cruz pickup in 2022. Interestingly, the two models will share a lot of components between them.

That includes numerous mechanical details, along with the engine, of course. Kia will target the mid-size pickup truck segment, the strongest segment at the moment. Most of the details are not available yet, but we don’t believe there will be so many surprises from the South Korean manufacturer.

Kia Pickup Truck Design

To this date, no one actually knows how the all-new Kia Pickup Truck will look like. However, Kia’s Chief Operating Officer revealed a couple of things. For a start, the new pickup truck will arrive as the mid-size model. Moreover, it will share its underpinnings with the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz. Moreover, Santa Cruz will ride on a unibody platform so now we know at least something.

Furthermore, Kia will look to offer both single and dual cab configurations. South Korean manufacturer is exploring the American market at the moment. The plan is to determine its potential and deliver what the customers want to see. Still, we don’t know anything about its design or exterior features.

The only segment Kia didn’t enter yet is the pickup truck segment. Now, the upcoming Kia Pickup Truck is confirmed. The South Korean manufacturer is aiming high, and it will put its product in the mid-size segment. The world is full of established mid-size pickup trucks. The competition is like nowhere else, and Kia will have to do its best, especially in the United States. In Australia, single-cab and diesel engines are confirmed.

However, the U.S. is something completely different. We don’t know how Kia plans to pull this off. Chevy Colorado and Ford Ranger are just some of the rivals. Moreover, new Jeep Gladiator is coming next to the traditional Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier. South Korean manufacturer will have to offer something, such as excellent fuel efficiency or an affordable price.

Kia Pickup Truck Engine Rumors

New Kia Pickup Truck will firstly hit the dealerships in Australia. Down Under, customers appreciate diesel powertrain that will surely make the production. South Korean company plans to offer two engine choices, a standard and optional. However, things are a bit different in the United States. There is no room for the diesel engine due to strict emission rules.

It is an interesting topic as diesel returns better mileage and more power at low RPMs. Furthermore, diesel offers 30% better fuel efficiency than gasoline. But, the things are pretty clear in the U.S. and Kia will have to provide a reliable gas unit. The same story, once again, the South Korean manufacturer will offer at least two powertrain options. Of course, we don’t have any information about the possible outcomes in this category.

Price and Release Date

We already wrote about it, Kia Pickup Truck will most likely arrive at an affordable price. However, exact pricing details are still far from official. As a matter of fact, Kia’s first pickup truck ever will go on sale in 2022 or 2023. Hyundai is also working on the pickup for the U.S., and it is a Santa Cruz model. Kia will draw a lot of cues and mechanics from this model, and it won’t arrive before Santa Cruz.
