Many carmakers are willing to enter the full-size pickup truck segment. One of the models that could represent a real refreshment is the upcoming 2021 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck. As its name suggests, the pickup truck will be based on the Defender SUV. Thanks to that, the two models will share a lot of components, including the powertrain.
Land Rover prepares plenty of changes for its Defender SUV. The same upgrades could be applied to the pickup truck version. At this point, we have spy photos of the SUV model and renderings of a pickup truck. According to different reports, Defender Pickup Truck will go on sale at some point in 2021.
2021 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck Exterior
The rendering photos are available, and the first renderings of the 2021 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck reveal stylish design. The defender could transform into a premium pickup truck that looks stylish and offers a lot of luxury. Logically, most of the styling cues will be taken from the SUV version. That includes chiseled lines and a boxy appearance. The pickup truck will look more aggressive and rugged, so some things are different. The front part comes with circular headlights and smaller lamps that will create a fantastic lighting setup.
The LED bar in the lower section looks incredible, and you can also see LEDs on top of the windshield. The snorkel on the driver’s side clearly suggests a combustion powertrain option. The SUV is available in a four-door body configuration, and we are yet to find out truck’s possible cab setups. As we said, Land Rover will provide plenty of refreshments to its Defender SUV and Defender Pickup will get the same treatment as well.
What Can Be Expected Inside
Imagine the Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck and all the luxury it will offer. Surely, segment leaders such as Ford F-150 or Ram 1500 cannot compete with that. We don’t expect from the pickup truck to offer anything innovative or unique. Instead, the interior design won’t depart from the Defender SUV.
Thanks to that, the cabin will provide a lot of luxury, premium amenities, and a lot of room for all of the passengers. A 10-inch infotainment display will become available, and it will use the “Pivi Pro” interface. Trim levels are another mystery. However, even the base trim level should offer the latest high-tech features and driver-assistance aids.
2021 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck Engine Details
The upcoming 2021 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck will also provide a lot of power. According to reliable reports, both SUV and pickup truck variants will get a potent V8 engine. This powertrain option will produce over 500 horsepower, which is in the range of Land Rover’s SVR models.
However, a powerful V8 should be an optional engine, and it will use an eight-speed automatic transmission. Land Rover will change the mechanics as well, so we should expect new air suspension and greater off-road capability. Unfortunately, we can’t tell yet which engine will be offered as standard.
Price and Release Date
The price of the 2021 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck is not available at the moment. However, we think the price that starts at around $50,000 is perfectly reasonable. The optional V8 engine will cost an additional $5,000, and we are waiting to see trim levels and some other details. The sales of the Land Rover Pickup Truck should begin at some point in 2021.
