The segment of luxury pickup trucks is slowly expanding. The idea of a premium truck is accepted so it is a perfect opportunity for different established automakers to step in. The 2021 Lexus Pickup Truck is just one of the rumors at the moment. It may sound crazy, but Lexus entering the pickup truck segment is a reality. After all, Toyota offers a great lineup of models in various segments. For that reason, Lexus should make a breakthrough with ease.
Before the production starts, we expect the concept to appear first. If the latest rumors are telling the truth, the concept should be released by the end of the year. Many things will be taken from Lexus’ lineup of crossovers and SUVs. On top of that, Toyota will have a great impact on the new pickup truck by providing the platform and powertrain options.
2021 Lexus Pickup Truck Design
The upcoming 2021 Lexus Pickup Truck will surely arrive with an eye-catching design. We hope to see a very premium model that looks both stylish and aggressive. Good looks without the utility are not bringing so much success. For that reason, Lexus will focus on delivering more equipment and better safety. If you are looking for a perfect work truck, Lexus is probably not the right choice. However, if you are simply in love with pickup trucks and you use it for the everyday drive, this could be it.
While the design language should largely remain, the pickup truck will surely deliver more aggressiveness. That includes a muscular grille, new skid plates, and a bed liner. The latest rumors are predicting a full-size pickup truck. That’s where Toyota kicks in with its platform and possibly powertrain options.
It is perhaps too early to speculate about the possible interior design. However, some things about the 2021 Lexus Pickup Truck are already familiar. While we can’t predict possible cab styles or trim levels, we know a couple of things that will happen for sure. For a start, Lexus will surely deliver a premium interior, packed with the latest technology. An SUV-like cabin is a must in our opinion. It will be interesting to see a new version of the Enform infotainment system.
The current version does not support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Lexus will opt for a 12.3-inch display and a standard 12-speaker audio system. As we already wrote, the manufacturer will focus on safety, so we should expect a lot of driver-assistance. The interior will be full of wood trims and chrome accents. Lastly, seating capacity might be a mystery but the level of comfort should not be questioned at all.
2021 Lexus Pickup Truck Engine
As Toyota’s sub-brand, Lexus will surely opt for either V6 or V8 engine options. A four-cylinder engine is a less likely outcome. The 2021 Lexus Pickup Truck will most likely deploy a 3.5-liter V6 as a standard powerplant option. Larger units such as 4.0-liter or 5.7-liter will become optional engines.
While the standard 3.5-liter will generate almost 300 horses, optional engines will surely deliver up to 400 horsepower. A hybrid powertrain is not on the cards at the moment. Lexus is also developing a brand-new twin-turbo powertrain and it will be interesting to see if this output could find its way under the bonnet of the new Lexus Pickup Truck.
Price and Release Date
You won’t find a premium pickup truck that costs below $50,000. The same will be with the new 2021 Lexus Pickup Truck. However, the exact starting price is hard to determine. We expect numerous trim levels and possibly one high-performance variant. The rumors are predicting for sales to start in the second half of 2021. For that reason, Lexus could release closer details by the end of the current year.
