Mazda confirmed the all-new 2020 Mazda BT-50. The new-generation model will arrive with significant upgrades. For the start, it will look tougher and more muscular. Unfortunately, current BT-50 didn’t cope with the sudden raising popularity of dual-cab models. Whatsoever, new BT-50 is still unlikely to arrive in the United States.
This pickup truck will enter the new generation with an improved Kodo design language. It will wear more muscles and it will look more aggressive. The BT-50 model was co-developed with the Ford Ranger, and now, new pickup will be a product of the Mazda-Isuzu cooperation. This model will be similar to the Isuzu D-Max.
2020 Mazda BT-50 Provide Famous Kodo Design Language
Mazda is learning on its own mistakes. Previous BT-50 model was a complete miss as the carmaker tried to deliver a Nagare styling scheme. The same styling was made in cooperation with the Ford and this pickup was closely related to the Ford Ranger. However, next-gen 2020 Mazda BT-50 will be similar to the Isuzu D-Max model.
Mazda will try to deliver an SUV-like appearance and the famous Kodo design language is clearly visible. For that reason, new Mazda BT-50 will arrive with meaner stance and more muscles. Generally, the aerodynamics are better and the styling is more modern. Additional upgrades are including a larger front grille and larger bumpers. On the other hand, 16-inch wheels will remain as standard.
2020 Mazda BT-50 Offers Plenty Of Standards And Optional Equipment
The forthcoming 2020 Mazda BT-50 will be once again available in numerous trim levels. The interior of the arriving pickup truck will change the level of luxury through those trims. Whatsoever, BT-50 is available in both two-door and four-door versions. Entering the two-door model is more difficult and the legroom is not that generous, to be honest.
However, legroom is ample in the four-door model which is a more practical model as well. The comfort is great and Mazda will offer much more upscale materials this time. Technology-wise, the pickup will offer plenty of standards and optional equipment. That includes the Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth and numerous safety aids. A 7.8-inch touchscreen is standard and it comes with a simple interface and easy-to-use menus.
2020 Mazda BT-50 Comes With the Same Engine As Isuzu D-Max Model
Additional changes could continue under the hood of the 2020 Mazda BT-50. However, at this moment, Mazda will offer the same 3.2-liter five-cylinder engine. The turbodiesel variant delivers 200 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque. It is yet unclear what will happen with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder SkyActiv unit.
This output is rated at 185 HP and 285 lb-ft of torque. Some reports are suggesting a 3.0-liter that powers the current Isuzu D-Max model. If it happens, BT-50 will produce up to 180 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of twists. A front-wheel-drive setup will be standard and we can expect both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission.
2020 Mazda BT-50 Price and Release Date
Mazda is not in such a good position to ask for a higher price at this moment. The current model didn’t reach the expected amount of sales so the 2020 Mazda BT-50 will start in a range of around $30,000 once again. Numerous trim levels will provide more luxury for a significantly higher price. This pickup will arrive later in 2019 and will compete with Toyota Hilux, VW Amarok, and Nissan Navara.
