The 2021 Mazda BT50 won’t introduce such significant upgrades. Whatsoever, the 2020 BT50 will be the new-gen model. For that reason, Mazda will provide only a couple of subtle updates. BT50 is a tough-looking pickup truck. Interior is well-equipped, and it draws some cues from the CX-5 crossover.
Thanks to that, the 2021 model will borrow a couple of more features from the famous crossover. On the other hand, BT50 will continue to deliver a unique look. Still, this pickup is closely related to the Isuzu D-Max model.
2021 BT50 Exterior Improvements
The previous generation wasn’t that much popular. Probably because of such a dull exterior. However, the 2021 Mazda BT50 will look better than its predecessor. Instead of Nagare, Mazda will deliver a famous Kodo design language. It will be a game-changer for the company’s only pickup truck.
Exterior will also borrow some cues from Isuzu D-Max and Mazda CX-5 crossover. Still, this pickup will remain unique and upscale. For 2021, BT50 will get more SUV-like features and more rugged styling. On top of that, BT50 will get more standard equipment.
SUV-Like Interior Design
The interior of the new 2021 Mazda BT50 will look very upscale for a regular pickup. Thanks to a large number of trim levels, BT50 could reach the real level of luxury. One thing is sure for 2021, and the interior will look better. The base model comes with more standard equipment. On top of that, pickup will borrow a couple of things from the CX-5 crossover.
The cabin is more SUV-like, and it looks modern. There will be both two-door and four-door variants. Interior room is generous, and new upholstery is very certain. As for the technology, Mazda BT50 will get new safety aids and additional driver-assistance. Still, a 7.8-inch touchscreen is present once again.
Engine Specs, Rumors
There won’t be any changes and upgrades under the bonnet. The approaching 2021 Mazda BT50 will continue to deliver two powertrain options. A 3.2-litre five-cylinder engine is still the most popular choice. This turbodiesel engine produces 200 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline is available as well. It is a “SkyActiv” type of engine. 185 hp and 285 lb-ft of torque are more than enough for most of the customers.
Still, speculations about new 3.0-litre are present. This engine powers the current Isuzu D-Max pickup. It is a very likely outcome, but not in the next year or two. BT50 shares a lot with current D-Max model so borrowing the engine is very realistic. A 3.0-litre cranks out 180 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. Mazda’s new pickup will continue to ride on a standard FWD configuration. On top of that, 6-speed automatic gearbox is offered as standard.
2021 Mazda BT50 Price and Release Date

New BT50 will go on sale in the second half of 2020. Still, its arrival on the American soil is a mystery. This pickup will continue to rival VW Amarok, Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux.
