The forthcoming 2021 Mitsubishi Triton will get numerous upgrades. The rumors are even suggesting Mitsubishi’s plan to equalize Triton and L200 models. As you probably know, those two are the same models. However, the difference is minimal because L200 comes with specific drivetrain specs for the U.S.
Also, Triton is available in other markets and you can find it under the names Strakar and Barbarian. The mid-size pickup segment is getting better and better. The comeback of Ram Dakota caused a huge splash. For the same reason, most of the manufacturers will provide numerous upgrades for their mid-size pickup trucks. Triton will be no different.
2021 Mitsubishi Triton Redesign
Some reports are strongly suggesting the new generation of Triton pickup. It does make sense as the 2020 model didn’t get that much upgrades. On top of that, Mitsubishi will look to provide the same design for both Triton and L200 models. The plan is to offer the same pickup trucks in the United States and globally.
New-gen model is the perfect answer for such radical changes. New 2021 Mitsubishi Triton will offer numerous exterior upgrades. That includes new front fascia with the brand-new grille and headlights. On top of that, the rear will get new taillights and bolder bumpers. Aerodynamics will be improved as well. The final result is a very attractive mid-size pickup with plenty of modern features.
Triton will continue to offer a room for five passengers. The upcoming 2021 Mitsubishi Triton will look very modern. Despite the great interior of the current model, Mitsubishi will look to opt for radical changes.
New Triton could be the next-gen model. For that reason, the manufacturer will surely raise the level of comfort. On top of that, Triton will get new features and a longer list of standard amenities. We hope for the cabin layout to remain practical and simple.
2021 Mitsubishi Triton Engine Specs
It will be interesting to see which engine will power the next-gen 2021 Mitsubishi Triton model. For the U.S. market, the Triton/L200 model will get a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar as the most likely option. It is a reliable powertrain that powers almost every new Jeep’s vehicle. For the rest of the world, Mitsubishi will most likely deploy the same engine lineup. That includes a 2.4-liter four-cylinder. The diesel engine is good for 180 HP and 340 lb-ft of torque.
Speaking of diesel, a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine is producing 175 HP and 340 lb-ft of twist. As for the gasoline engines, a 2.4-liter delivers 145 horsepower. This unit will be standard on the base model. Of course, we are still hoping for something stronger. Newest rumors are suggesting new gasoline variant with a turbocharger. According to the same rumors, the new powertrain will offer almost 300 horses.
Price and Release Date
The all-new 2021 Mitsubishi Triton will cost around $35,000. Thanks to the latest changes, the price will start higher than before. As we already wrote, Mitsubishi plans to copy the L200 model and paste it on the Triton. For that reason, a new generation model is very likely in 2021.
It makes perfect sense after the news about the Ram Dakota’s comeback emerged online. Now, the mid-size pickup segment will get even crazier. Besides new-gen 2021 Triton and Ram Dakota, this segment is packed with established rivals. That includes Chevy Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, and Nissan Frontier.
