The pickup market is slowly getting more and more off-road capable models. After the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, we can see even more models. One such model is surely a 2020 Nissan Frontier Pro 4x. Frontier is Nissan’s best-selling truck right now. Whatsoever, it outsold the Titan model last year.
There are numerous reasons for that and Pro 4x variant is surely one of them. The off-road pickup truck looks very attractive and modern. Interior is surprisingly subtle and performance is great. The 2020 Frontier Pro 4x will gain slightly more updates and it will offer a lot of standard equipment.
2020 Nissan Frontier Pro 4x Design Look
The all-new 2020 Nissan Frontier Pro 4x will ride on the same platform as the Navara pickup truck. However, some reports are suggesting an all-new platform. Frontier could ride on the same architecture that underpins the current Titan model. But for now, this is just another rumor.
Pro 4x model already looks aggressive and mean. It offers shorter bed and longer wheelbase. 16-inch alloy wheels are standard and are looking very premium. All-season tires are available as well. The front end will get slightly larger grille. On top of that, a couple of more features are enlarged.
That includes bumpers, fog lights, and bumpers. We can expect even more off-road equipment, besides the standard roof rack and skid plates. All of the upgrades are very minor and barely visible.
Interior Offers a Long List of Standard Features
Unlike the exterior, the interior will get more drastic upgrades. For the start, the cabin is additionally modernized. Comfort is also better and safety rating is improved too. On top of that, new steering wheel and shift knob are available. The 2020 Nissan Frontier Pro 4x will get more chrome accents as well. Leather seats with contrast stitching are standard once again.
Layout from the inside will remain and overall design is basically the same. There is plenty of legroom and headroom from the inside. We still don’t like the smaller 5.8-inch touchscreen. If you want a larger unit, you’ll have to buy it from the optional list. However, Frontier Pro 4x offers a long list of standard features. Besides the touchscreen, the base model got you covered in every possible segment.
Powertrain Specs and Towing Capacity
Pro 4x variant will continue to ride on the existing 4.0-liter V6. However, the new engine could happen sooner than we thought. Current V6 is producing 260 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque. It comes with the standard four-wheel-drive system and a 5-speed automatic transmission.
Also, it can tow 6,500 pounds and fuel economy is rated at 18 mpg combined. However, the 2020 Nissan Frontier Pro 4x could get a new drivetrain option. Newest speculations are saying that we can expect the engine that is borrowed from Titan pickup. That means the all-new Frontier Pro 4x will get over 300 horsepower. Not only that, we can expect higher torque figures and better mileage. Besides that, a new 7-speed automatic transmission will become available.
2020 Nissan Frontier Pro 4x Price and Release Date
The new model will cost slightly more than the current one. The 2020 Nissan Frontier Pro 4x will be priced at $35,000.
Base Frontier starts slightly above $20,000. The off-road version will arrive in the third quarter of 2019.
