New 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman is coming to the dealerships by the end of the year. Tradesman is the base trim level that offers more than enough equipment and above-average performances. A couple of months ago, we had an opportunity to see the prototype vehicle. Spy photos provided the latest cosmetic upgrades, and we must share our disappointment. Many reports predicted a complete redesign, but that won’t happen.
The interior will also host minor updates only. However, Ram now offers a 6.4-liter V8 engine, while the 5.7-liter V8 is not available anymore. The diesel engine is also available, so Ram 2500 Tradesman is a complete truck that delivers it all. The price will remain intact because Tradesman will arrive with a small number of changes.
2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman Exterior Novelties are Visible
The upcoming 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman will get minor refreshments. The manufacturer opted for a slightly more aggressive approach, and the latest spy shots are showing precisely that. Some novelties are visible at first glance, but as we said, it is far from the significant update. The front grille is larger and Led headlights are brand-new.
The side profile comes with the same clean design as before. However, new wheels options are available. The rear section hosts reshaped taillights and modified bumper. Ram offers various cab setups so the customers can choose between two bed sizes. That includes a 6-foot 4-inch and 8-foot bed options. Arriving heavy-duty truck will dimensionally remain the same. That means new Ram 2500 Tradesman is 232 inches long and 78 inches tall.
Interior Features Small Updates
The approaching 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman pickup truck is still far from the premium segment in terms of its interior design. Tradesman is an affordable variant that gets the job done. Ram will introduce small interior updates for 2021. That includes more standard equipment, new infotainment system and additional driver-assistance aids.
Besides that, the cabin won’t change at all. Cloth upholstery is standard, and the dashboard still features hard plastic coverings. If you want more luxurious features in Tradesman variant, all of these amenities will be optional. That includes a larger touchscreen, leather upholstery and latest safety systems.
2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman Engine Specs
Some things will change under the hood of the 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman. The heavy-duty truck gets a 6.4-liter engine with 430 horsepower. The rear-wheel-drive will be standard, along with the eight-speed automatic transmission. New Hemi V8 engine replaces 5.7-liter output, and it delivers smoother and quieter ride.
However, the most popular engine option is a 6.7-liter Cummins V8. It is a proven diesel powertrain that provides up to 950 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, Ram will deliver even higher torque ratings to match Ford’s diesel engine. Towing capacity is rated at over 35,000 pounds at the moment.
Price and Release Date
The forthcoming 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman will start at $34,000. The price includes a 4×2 regular cab variant. It is a small jump in price over the previous model. The sales will begin in the last quarter of 2020, and Ram 2500 will continue to rival heavy-duty models from Chevrolet and Ford.
