The forthcoming 2021 Ram 2500 is coming to the markets later next year. Ram plans to update its complete heavy-duty lineup. Just like the Ford did, Ram also plans to bring 2500’s design to the design of the 1500 light-duty model. Even Chevrolet is doing exactly the same thing.
Competition is very strong and the race for the best heavy-duty model continues. We can expect plenty of upgrades. That includes exterior changes and interior modernization. A hybrid powertrain is another novelty and overall, the 2021 model will be very exciting.
Ram 2500 Exterior Redesign
New 2021 Ram 2500 will get a more modern and upscale look. Year after year, this pickup truck is losing its aggressiveness. The goal is to deliver a design closer to the look of the Ram 1500. For that reason, Ram 2500 will now look more subtle and stylish. However, rugged appearance is still present, despite some nice and modern touches. The spy photos are available and we are a little bit surprised.
For the start, new headlights are available. Those units are looking sharper now and much more modern. Taillights will get slightly revised shape for 2021. Furthermore, the side profile will get a new character line and possibly new optional rims. The place where the grill sits is under heavy camouflage. This may suggest a new grille.
Inside, the upcoming 2021 Ram 2500 will be very modern. The pickup is tech-rich and that will improve in the future. Ford already started its plan to make it F-Series tech dominant. This is a response from Ram. Thanks to that, the heavy-duty model will get more standard features.
On top of that, an update of the infotainment system, latest phone integrations, and safety aids are in the offer. A couple of new driver-assistance and improved graphic details on the displays are more than welcome. On the other hand, the interior layout will largely remain.
Engine Options, Transmission, Towing Capacity
The all-new 2021 Ram 2500 won’t introduce innovations under its bonnet. The heavy-duty pickup truck will continue to roll with the current engine lineup. A 5.7-liter V8 remains standard engine option. This powerful unit returns 385 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. A larger and optional 6.4-liter Hemi V8 produces up to 410 horses and 430 lb-ft of twist.
A pickup truck without diesel would surprise us all. However, Ram 2500 is known for its reliable 6.7-liter Cummins. This V8 powertrain uses a turbocharger and it generates 370 horses. More importantly, torque is rated at 930 lb-ft. Gasoline engines can tow almost 14,000 pounds. As for the turbodiesel, towing capacity delivers over 20,000 pounds. When it comes to transmission, you can choose between a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
2021 Ram 2500 Price and Release Date
While it’s early to predict the price, new 2021 Ram 2500 will surely cost more than the current model. At this moment, Ram 2500 is priced at 32,000. Knowing that the 2021 version will surely start at $34,000 or around those figures. Company’s new heavy-duty lineup will go on sale in the last quarter of 2020.
