The all-new 2021 Ram HD is getting further improvements. The race for the best heavy-duty truck lineup continues, and both Ford and Chevrolet are delivering additional enhancements. We have the newest spy shots, and some of the exterior changes are visible at first glance. Interestingly, all three manufacturers are focusing on delivering a design closer to the look of their light-duty pickups.
Competition is a good thing, especially for new Ram HD. Literally, every year, we can anticipate numerous upgrades. This time, even the interior will get various updates. Under the hood, nothing will change. However, hybrid powertrain could be in the offer shortly. It is the next big step for the heavy-duty truck segment.
2021 Ram HD Exterior Upgrades
All of the Ram’s heavy-duty model will get the same type of exterior upgrades. New 2021 Ram HD has been spied recently. Moreover, some fundamental changes are about to happen in terms of styling. Still, we are not talking about a total redesign. The prototype clearly wears different grille shape and new surrounding elements. Center portion is slightly raised which could mean the headlights are all-new.
The front bumper definitely looks bolder, and new hood design is just a possibility for now. Some parts are perfectly camouflaged, so it is hard to tell. Of course, rear spy shots are available, as well. Taillights are also changed, and new units will be finished in a different shape. On top of that, brake light is added. The side profile largely remains.
The approaching 2021 Ram HD will also suffer a couple of changes inside. For a start, the truck will get new high-tech and safety amenities. Still, we are not sure if that’s enough to compete with Ford’s recently updated interior. Logically, all heavy-duty models in the lineup will get more standard features. Furthermore, the base model will add more luxury.
As for the tech, the infotainment system and newest phone integrations are available. In terms of safety, latest driver-assistance aids will be in the offer. However, all of the new driver-assistance features are optional on the base trim level. The interior layout should remain. On top of that, dashboard design will stay intact too.
Unfortunately, the forthcoming 2021 Ram HD won’t introduce any updates under the hood. Ram’s heavy-duty lineup will deploy both gasoline and diesel powertrain option. Moreover, diesel is incredibly powerful, and it provides an astonishing towing capacity. But for a start, 5.7-liter V8 gasoline remains standard. This output is good for 385 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque. Optional 6.4-liter Hemi V8 delivers 410 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.
Both gasoline engines are offering great performances. However, diesel is the highlight once again. A 6.7-liter Cummins V8 generates “only” 370 hp. On the other hand, its torque is rated at 930 lb-ft. Thanks to that, Ram HD can tow over 20,000 pounds. On the other hand, , gasoline engine comes with 14,000 pounds of towing capacity. Finally, Ram is offering both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission.
2021 Ram HD Price and Arrival
In terms of prices, the upcoming 2021 Ram HD will get a small increase. The current model is priced at $32,000, while the 2021 heavy-duty lineup starts at $34,000. Of course, you can count on plenty of customization, so the price can reach $60,000 with ease. Ram will release its new HD trucks in the second half of 2020.
