New 2022 Renault Alaskan will introduce additional updates. This pickup truck will share a lot of things with the Nissan Navara model. For a start, Alaskan and Navara are using the same architecture and the same five-link rear suspension. Moreover, even the same engine is in use, but new powertrain option is reportedly in the works.
Reportedly, this engine will also power the new Mercedes X-Class. Anyway, there is so much info and only time will tell what’s true. The most important thing is that the Alaskan pickup will introduce a lot of upgrades. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021, in South America.
2022 Alaskan Facelift
Visually, the new 2022 Renault Alaskan will introduce a facelift. Thanks to the Renault-Nissan alliance, the new Alaskan will look more modern and upright. As we already said, the Alaskan pickup truck will now look closer to the Nissan Navara model. Two models are offering almost the same mechanics and the same platform. And while the Alaskan won’t look as unique as its rivals, we think this model looks better than before.
The front fascia sports the new grille and wider bumper. The brand’s logo will look nice in the middle of the grille, surrounded by chrome accents. In the back, the Alaskan pickup looks a little bit odd. The layout is strange but at least looks innovative and modern. Lastly, this truck will offer standard 17-inch wheels, like the outgoing model.
The interior of the next 2022 Renault Alaskan is getting mid-cycle updates. Changes are not so significant, but Alaskan will introduce some important upgrades. First of all, Renault will update the infotainment system. On top of that, Alaskan will offer more standard features and new optional driver-assistance aids.
Thanks to that, this pickup truck is more modern than its predecessor, but it will also provide a higher level of comfort. The cabin remains roomy and practical, as always before. Renault will replace cheap plastic materials with more upscale materials, but the base trim level will still offer cheap materials.
Diesel Engine Specs
The forthcoming 2022 Renault Alaskan comes with only one engine option. However, this engine comes in two different outputs. It is a 2.3-liter dCi powertrain with 160 horsepower and 297 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, this diesel engine can produce 190 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque and this output will be optional.
We already mentioned that the Alaskan pickup shares a lot of things with the Nissan Navara. That includes the engine and 6-speed manual gearbox. However, Renault will also introduce a 7-speed automatic transmission as well. Lastly, Alaskan comes with a five-link rear suspension and new disc brakes.
2022 Renault Alaskan Release Date, Price
The price of the all-new 2022 Renault Alaskan should start at about $32,000. At this moment, Nissan Navara still looks like a better option, but facelifted Alaskan looks promising. The sales will begin in South America, in the second half of 2021. Renault will release more details in the coming weeks.
