Toyota Tundra is a well-known full-size pickup truck, especially on the American soil. This model is present for a long time now and is one of the oldest trucks in the U.S. The 2019 Toyota Tundra Diesel will arrive in the near future and will bring some significant upgrades. As the name suggests, the diesel variant will finally arrive.

The truck’s dimensions and shape will remain. However, some visual tweaks on the 2019 model are visible. The interior offers generous room and the list of standard amenities is brilliant. On top of that, Tundra offers strong V8 powertrain, along with the mentioned diesel engine. If you are looking for a truck with the tradition, great comfort, and versatility, Tundra Diesel delivers it all.

The exterior of the all-new 2019 Toyota Tundra Diesel looks very aggressive and robust. However, some of the styling cues are distinctive and some new tweaks are notable. A bold design will remain but some of the upgrades are looking modern. For the start, the new front grille is larger and the headlights are revised. The honeycomb grille offers some chrome trims with the gray surroundings.

Upper trims are offering body-colored surroundings and LED headlights that are standard. Generally, the exterior didn’t suffer any significant changes but the upgrades are refreshing and modern. Tundra is a full-size pickup truck and a capable off-roader, so you can buy optional skid plates and other off-road equipment. The new model offers Magnetic Gray Metallic, Cement and Silver Sky Metallic exterior paints.

Just like the exterior, the interior of the 2019 Toyota Tundra Diesel will suffer minor upgrades. Perhaps the biggest upgrade is a new gauge cluster which adds a larger 4.2-inch display. The comfort is great in general, but if you want a real luxury you’ll have to opt for the Limited models. This trim offers real wood materials, leather upholstery and much more.

The base model is providing some hard plastics and some buttons are too big. The technology department is good, a 7-inch touchscreen is standard, along with the Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity. Unfortunately, some of the modern amenities are missing, even on the optional list.

The biggest changes are about to happen under the hood. The aging 4.6-liter V8 is gone from the base model is gone. An optional 5.7-liter V8 will remain and it can produce up to 381 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque. The standard engine from now on will be a smaller 3.5-liter V6 diesel powertrain. The new engine delivers 305 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.

While not that powerful as the optional engine, diesel drivetrain offers more than respective torque and fuel economy numbers. A 5.7-liter V8 will use aging 6-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, new diesel unit will arrive with either 8-speed or 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Those two are available are offering better performance but Toyota Tundra TRD Pro comes with a more affordable price. If you are among those customers who are seeking more affordable off-roaders, Tundra TRD Pro is a much better choice. It comes with aggressive styling and tech-rich interior with upscale upholstery.
