New Tacoma will get a new diesel engine. The base model is offering a 2.7-liter as standard and 3.5-liter V6 gasoline as an optional engine. The first output is rated at 160 hp and the second one on 278 HP. Both engines are offering a two-wheel-drive setup as standard. Four-wheel-drive will be optional as on the current model.
Now, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma Diesel comes with the brand-new powertrain. It is a 2.8-liter four-cylinder engine that will generate almost 200 horsepower and up to 350 lb-ft of torque. New diesel unit is available with the 6-speed automatic transmission. Toyota claims better fuel economy ratings that are better than on the current engine lineup. However, the Japanese carmaker is yet to announce further details about the new powertrain.
2020 Toyota Tacoma Diesel Price and Release Date
The 2020 Toyota Tacoma Diesel is available in three trim levels. The base model will cost $26,000 while the TRD Sport model is priced at $33,000. The range-topping TRD Pro variant is one of the most popular choices and the price starts at around $40,000. Toyota’s newest pickup truck will go on sale in the second half of 2019.
