When you talk about the most popular pickup trucks, you just can’t exclude a model such as Tundra. It is one of the most capable pickups in the market right now. Available in numerous trims and special versions, this pickup is very practical and reliable. However, the high-performance 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport is something on a whole different level. Like the TRD is not sporty enough so Toyota needs to make it even sportier.
The 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport comes with the astonishing off-road abilities, the exterior is very attractive and the interior is comfortable and sporty. But this variant is not all about sportiness. Bilstein dampers are included, along with the new tires, anti-roll bars and plenty of off-road equipment. Powered by a strong V8, Tundra is available in both rear and four-wheel drive setups.
2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport is much stylish and subtle
The upcoming 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport will look very sporty and aggressive. But that aggressiveness is perfectly shown thanks to a nice styling from the Japanese carmaker. For an instance, the TRD Pro is an aggressive variant, TRD Sport is much stylish and subtle but still, mean. Both models are amazing, but the difference is clearly visible. Even under the skin, you can spot some differences.
Bilstein dumpers will get further TRD work, along with the front and rear anti-roll bars. TRD Sport offers a wide choice of exterior colors. You can choose between Super White, Barcelona Red Metallic, Blazing Blue Pearl, Magnetic Gray, and Midnight Black Pearl. There is also plenty of body-color features like hood scoops and bumpers. To the sides, a 20-inch silver alloy wheels are standard.
2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport interior offers more upscale materials
Japanese automaker decided to offer a subtler variant of the interior. Unlike exterior that looks sporty, the interior is closer to the base Tundra model. Of course, the 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport offers more upscale materials and features as standard. Not only that, shift knob is totally different, along with the floor mats. Even the displays are upgraded and new.
Toyota’s Safety Sense P suite is available as well and is highly recommendable. This suite offers adaptive cruise control, auto high-beams, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, and pre-collision warning. Beside those notable changes, the rest of the interior really looks like the base Tundra model. That includes both the design and the cabin layout.
2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport powertrain performance
Just like the TRD Pro version, the all-new 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport will use the same powertrain. A 5.7-liter V8 is the only engine choice, it produces 381 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque. An electronically controlled 6-speed automatic gearbox is available as well. Both rear and four-wheel-drive configurations are available.
TRD Sport offers great performances on and off the road, and the off-road suspension will help a lot. Of course, we already mentioned the new dampers and anti-roll bars.
2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport price and release date
Not all the markets can get the 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport pickup truck. That’s because Japanese carmaker classifies TRD Sport as some sort of package or special version. On the other hand, more popular TRD Pro is one of the trim levels. And while the base Tundra starts at $34,000, TRD Sport is available for $40,000. The sporty pickup will hit the dealerships in the first half of 2020.
