Toyota plans to deliver the most powerful Tacoma model so far. As you probably know, TRD Pro trim level is the high-performance version. Logically, this variant will surely get a couple of exciting upgrades. The forthcoming 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro could benefit from new suspension and additional off-road gear. On top of that, the current engine lineup will gain more horses.
Toyota also plans to update the traction system and to deliver more standard amenities. That includes more tech and safety systems. No doubt, TRD Pro trim is one of the most capable models in its segment. It comes with power, upscale design and most importantly, with a tradition.
2021 Tacoma TRD Pro Exterior Facelift
For 2021, TRD Pro variant will get a couple of upgrades. Trapezoidal grille highlighted with bold “TOYOTA” emblem will remain. Unlike the 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, other trim levels are offering mesh grille up front. The 2021 model will get more chrome trims on the front fascia. TRD Pro looks really badass with its hood scoop. It is another cue that isn’t available on the rest of the trim levels. Fog lamps are offered as standard and are equipped with LED lamps. As for the rest of the design, some parts will look cleaner than before. All-season tires, premium wheels, bed lights, and new exterior paints are all available.
New 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will look very premium from the inside. Comfort is guaranteed. Whatsoever, the whole interior is more SUV-like. All-weather floor mats, Entune system, and JBL sound system are all standard. On top of that, TRD Pro offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. QJ wireless charging pad is optional on the other hand. Heated leather seats are available with red stitching and TRD logos.
Digital dual temperature controls, moonroof and Homelink garage system are only available on this trim level. As for the safety, Tacoma TRD Pro adds numerous driver-assistance. That includes rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring. Smart cruise control, pedestrian detection and lane keep assist are available too.
Performance, Fuel Economy, Transmission
Things under the hood will remain. The upcoming 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will continue to use its 3.5-liter V6. This unit delivers 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. The customers can choose between the 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. A two-speed transfer case provides a part-time electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system. In normal circumstances, TRD Pro will deploy an RWD setup.
The electronic locking rear differential is available, along with the Multi-Terrain Select system. On top of that, Crawl Control is in the offer and Toyota will upgrade the suspension. Some reports are suggesting more power for the 2021 Tacoma model and its reliable V6 powertrain. Fuel economy is rated at 20 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg in the city.
2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Price and Release Date
All-new 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro should retain the existing price. Knowing that, the new pickup truck will cost $46,000. Of course, if you want to use this model for off-roading, you can opt for the Tacoma TRD Off-Road variant. While it is more affordable, this trim level lacks additional features to justify invested money. TRD Pro model will go on sale in the third quarter of 2020.
