The forthcoming 2022 Toyota Tundra will get additional upgrades. This pickup truck is improving year after year. The 2022 model will be very exciting for plenty of reasons. The full-size model will gain major changes, and hybrid powertrain is reportedly in the works. Some reports are mentioning the next-gen Tundra, and it makes perfect sense.
Tundra offers an aging design, and even its engine could be replaced. Besides mechanical updates, Tundra will be redesigned. The new model will look more modern and more attractive. The interior will get the same treatment, and we should expect further high-tech updates. The price will slightly increase, and the new Tundra will go on sale later next year.
What New 2022 Toyota Tundra Pickup Will Introduce?
New 2022 Toyota Tundra is about to get a new design. The Japanese manufacturer will introduce a complete redesign. Thanks to that, Tundra truck will gain interesting styling cues, taken from the RAV4 and Highlander models. It is Toyota’s new design language, so all of the vehicles are sharing the same character. Tundra will get new c-shaped LED headlights, along with new high-mounted beams.
The trapezoidal grille is recognizable, but it will wear additional chrome accents. Moreover, the upper intake is also available. The front fascia looks more sophisticated than ever before. The side profile is simple, but Tundra will gain more muscles, new black a-pillars and possibly a new set of wheels. A power tailgate is available once again, and Toyota will deliver brand-new vertical LED taillights.
If the latest reports are correct, a new 2022 Toyota Tundra will introduce more interior room. The credit goes to the F1 architecture that will underpin the new-generation Tundra truck. The same platform also underpins models such as Sequoia and Tacoma. New chassis will provide more space for the occupants, and Toyota will also work on raising the level of comfort. On top of that, the customers should expect new driver-assistance features and the latest version of the infotainment system.
A 12.3-inch touchscreen will be offered for the first time. This unit comes with the 4G Wi-Fi connectivity, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa features. Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.0 suite is standard, and it will include the latest safety systems such as road sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.
2022 Toyota Tundra Performance
The new architecture will be able to accommodate a hybrid system. For that reason, a new 2022 Toyota Tundra will most likely offer a hybrid powertrain. From what we know, a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine will be in the offer. It is the same engine that powers numerous Lexus’ vehicles. In combination with electric motor and battery pack, Tundra Hybrid will produce up to 450 horsepower. The customers can choose between a six-speed manual and ten-speed automatic transmission.
A rear-wheel-drive system will be standard, as before. Tundra will also arrive with new coil springs, new suspension, a dynamic torque vectoring system, and new driving modes. As for the conventional engines, we can’t say what will happen with 4.6-liter and 5.7-liter engines. Don’t be surprised if Toyota offers these engines once again.
Price and Release Date
The next-gen 2022 Toyota Tundra will cost more than its predecessor. That means the price should start at $35,000 or slightly above that. Besides a hbrid variant, Tundra could offer better performances for trim levels such as TRD Pro. New Tundra truck will once again try to rival Ram 1500, Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. The sales will begin at some point in 2021, most likely in the second quarter.
